I’ve reached an impasse. I’ve been ‘flying by the seat of my pants’ for this entire piece and initially, I wanted to end up with a result similar to what I’ve come up with, but with colors that compliment each other a little better. I already have an idea for what I want in the “pitch black” area, but there’s a very large space underneath the heart that I don’t know what to do with. I think this is a sign that I need to move onto another piece until inspiration for this piece strikes me again.

I think for the next piece I work on, I’m going to make sure I plan it out a little more thoroughly, and I might even draw the idea on the wood before I start painting. Until then, however, I think I’m going to draw some large tree roots that engulf some of the heart. Or maybe not. I’m not entirely sure at the moment. :| Blah.
