A Day Late & A Dollar Short

87e0f-blogtemberI missed the first entry of Blogtember (as life has kept me busy recently), but I figure that since I blog a lot about myself that there wasn’t a real need for me to explain my roots. If you haven’t heard about my past yet, I’m sure you’ll find out more about myself, later.

Blogtember Topic of the Day: If you could take three months off from your current life and do anything in the world, what would you do? (bonus points for fun photos, but don’t forget to cite the source!)

“No great man ever complains of want of opportunity.”
– Ralph Waldo Emerson

To be quite honest, I’ve always wanted to take a trip around the world. Although I would consider three months a short trip in this scenario, I would still jump on that opportunity without a moment’s hesitation. My first stop would take me to the island of Lana’i in Hawai’i. During my time there I would thoroughly enjoy spending my time snorkeling, surfing and seeing what the entire island has to offer (including Shipwreck Beach and Garden of the Gods). After my time in Hawai’i, I would like to make my way down to New Zealand then to Sydney, Australia for some sightseeing. While in Sydney, learning about the Aboriginal culture would be a great opportunity as well.

Tokyo would only be my first stop, as I would try my best to spend a few weeks utilizing the bullet train system to take me to various parts of Japan, including Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Nagoya and Hiroshima. Besides climbing Mt. Fuji, visiting Tokyo Disney and Studio Ghibli, Akihabara, and the Square Enix store in Japan I’d also like to visit historical sites, participate in another traditional Japanese tea ceremony, and spend some time at a hot springs. After mainland Japan, I’d move on to Okinawa for some more beach time, and exploring the islands around Okinawa and perhaps some deep-sea fishing.

Moving along, I’d spend some time in the Philippines in my mom and the rest of my family’s hometown. From there I’d head over to Java, Indonesia to Singapore, then Thailand. After Thailand, perhaps via the ground, I’d make my way to China via Beijing and Shanghai. From there, I’d hope to fly into Mumbai before checking out Kenya, Ethiopia, Madagascar and South Africa. Should I find any volunteer opportunities along the way – through any of the countries I visit I would gladly participate in anything that I could – whether they be at orphanages or schools. While in Africa, however, I would love to experience going out on a safari trip.

I could literally go on forever, explaining the multitude of different places around the world I’d be ecstatic about visiting, but I think I’ve explained quite enough of them already. For a more thorough list of places I’d like to visit, feel free to check them all out on my bucket list. Oh, the things one could accomplish if we didn’t have to worry about money or countless other responsibilities…
