I just have to say, finally!
This summer has been ridiculous, with clouds, overcast weather with moisture in the air, and the temperature rarely breaking 90; but today made up for everything with the 102 degree weather and the mild (but noticeable) humidity. I live for days like today, where the skies almost glimmer with a deep cerulean blue color. Granted, I know that most people can’t stand the heat when it comes to the Pacific Northwest, where the average year-round temperature is 50-60 degrees, but this is what I feel like summer should be. It was simply outstanding.
Speaking of outstanding, I find it striking the number of people that upgrade their statuses (primarily) on Facebook about ‘how much fun’ they are having. What strikes me as odd, however, is that if they were truly having such an incredible time, how or why would anyone do something to take away from their ‘fun’ by posting a status update? I guess I can understand if you were in a drunken state, but it just doesn’t make any sense to me. If you’re truly having a phenomenal time, I believe you would post about it later, rather than take away from your experience just to try to “update” people. I find it kind of absurd.
I’ll be into my third week of my International Studies accelerated summer course next week, and it’s been pretty great so far. As expected, there has been a lot of reading assignments, but thankfully the homework assignments aren’t as intense as I would have expected from a 300 level class. My homework was supposed to reflect on about120 pages of reading from the book The American Way of Strategy by Michael Lind, but I decided to procrastinate it a little bit more than I had originally expected. Surprisingly, I was still able to complete all of my assignments due today within a matter of about four hours. To be honest, I even surprised myself.
Anyway, I believe I’m going to call it a night soon. There’s a neighborhood block party tomorrow, and I need to decide what I want to bring to it. It should be a good time, as last year’s event was pretty entertaining overall. Well, I hope that everyone is having a phenomenal summer! Stay safe and much love!
