First Post of 2014

For last year’s words belong to last year’s language, and next year’s words await another voice.

This year started out great, but unfortunately (or maybe, fortunately?) I managed to catch the Swine Flu a couple days into the new year. To be honest, I haven’t been sick in years; However, I haven’t caught the flu for well-over 8 years already so surely I was due for some sort of major illness. It only took about a week to fully recover, and I’m just glad that it’s over with and that I didn’t give it to anyone that I know.

In other news, the holidays went by extremely fast, but it was definitely an enjoyable and memorable break. Some friends and I celebrated our third annual Secret Santa together, and most of us were fortunate enough to receive some gifts purchased during some of their travels to Japan. This was definitely one of our biggest Secret Santa exchanges to-date as we not only had our Secret Santa gifts, but we also gave out stocking stuffers which weren’t really “stocking stuffers” as they were additional gifts/presents.

Christmas with the Kagis was just as great and memorable, as Kessa and Ryan were able to fly in from Tennessee to spend the holidays with us. With the possibility that I’ll be moving to Japan in July, I’m pleased with all of the gifts that I got as they aren’t extremely large items – to include the complete first compendium of The Walking Dead graphic novel. I definitely feel blessed. I only wish I had more time during my free time.

After recovering from the flu, I’m ultra late on taking down the holiday decorations around my house. To be honest, I’ve actually taken most of them down, however, I still need to put them all away. The house is in disarray, but I’m certain that I can get it back to spick-and-span in a matter of time.

As far as classes this term goes, they aren’t as stressful as I expected them to be. (Which is surprising for 15 credits, at PSU, but maybe it’s still too early to tell.) To be quite honest, I still need to purchase my books for three of my other classes this term, so I might do that sometime tomorrow.

Anyway, it’s getting late so I’m going to call it a night.
