I’m a perfectionist to say the least, so it doesn’t matter what I do, I’m going to strive to be successful at it. One of the toughest things for me right now is calculating and looking at my average GPA, and grade(s) for my classes. Sure, this may only be my first term, but I don’t want anything less than an A.
I got my grade back from the exam we took in International Relations today, and I was disturbed to see that I received an 83%. This obviously tells me that I need to focus more time, as it is, studying and reading the chapters thoroughly. If I can maintain my grades in the other classes I’m taking, I’ll be happy, but it has become evident to me that I need to focus on International Relations. Every professor so far, administers 10% of a student’s grade on their class participation and/or attendance, but I chose not to calculate that into my score. I know I’d give myself the full 10%, so unless I can speak on a teacher’s behalf, I’d rather not make an assumption. Instead, I’ve calculated the grades I’ve received based-on class exams and assignments I’ve gotten back and have arrived at the following :
89.5% – International Relations/ POLS 203
93.75% – English Comp 1/ ENG 101
94.3% – Intro to Sociology/ SOC 101
It really disturbs me that I’m receiving a ‘B’ in International Relations. I know I can do better. I will do better. Especially since this is one of the main subjects in-which I want to major in. I’ve taken the time to do some research and found that there are a few internships that I can apply for locally. The only problem that concerns me now is how an internship would affect my grade(s). I guess I’ll have to continue to play it all by-ear, and see how things turn out for this semester.
